Christy Walsworth
Director/Office Administrator

My family and I moved from the valley to La Pine in 1992. I graduated from La Pine High School, married my High School sweetheart and obtained my Child Development Associates. We have two amazing daughters and recently welcomed a son to our family. Our oldest married in 2020 after graduating from OSU and our youngest, one of Rising Stars 1st preschoolers will graduate from OSU in June 2021!

I co-founded Rising Stars Preschool in 2004 and served as both the Lead Teacher and Director/Office Administrator. After over a decade of dedication to the preschool, I took advantage of the last few years at home with our daughters. During that time I enjoyed coaching Cheerleading at La Pine High School and assisted the LPHS Varsity Softball Team until 2018. For the last two years I’ve enjoyed traveling with my husband everywhere his work takes him, exploring new areas and visiting antique shops along the way. I enjoy spending time with family/friends, entertaining, cooking, traveling, journaling and making the most of everyday!

I’m honored to return as the Director/Office Administrator and to work alongside an outstanding group of ladies who are working hard to insure Rising Stars is here to stay!

Laura Palmer
Lead Teacher

I grew up in the Portland area, but always lived on the outskirts in small communities. I moved to the LaPine area in early spring of 1999 and started a family. Both of my children, a daughter and a son, are graduates of Rising Stars Preschool. As my children became more independent, I chose to return to college. I received a Master of Arts in Teaching from George Fox University. I am honored to be given the opportunity to work with this amazing organization to guide the young children in our community. Being a preschool teacher allows me to start these wondrous students on a path of a love for learning. Throughout my life I have had a menagerie of pets that have included dogs, cats, raccoons, chickens, goats and temporary care of opossums and owls, just to name a few! Currently there are just 2 dogs, 2 cats and 2 geckos living within our home. In my spare time I enjoy hiking, kayaking, road trips and going to the beach. I cherish anytime I can get together with family and friends to just hang out and laugh!

Christy Walsworth
Assistant Teacher

Our Director/Office Administrator will be assisting in the classroom! Ms. Christy has worked with young children and families since 1995 and is excited to return to the classroom again.

“I love to see the wonder and amazement through the eyes of young children, to help them learn new skills and build on those they already have. This is such a special time in their lives where they are constantly learning and growing, developing so many new and exciting skills, to be a part of that is a true honor.”
